Will I have the opportunity to do internships?

SgIS scholars will have the opportunity to undertake at least one internship programme with their sponsoring organisation as part of its development programme. Some sponsoring organisations may have more intensive development frameworks. You may wish to bring this up for discussion during your interview.

Can I source for my own vacation attachments or internship programmes with another organisation?

SgIS scholars should check with their sponsoring organisation if there are development programmes for them during vacation periods. The SgIS scholars’ obligations are to their sponsoring organisation first.

Will I be given the opportunity to serve my internships at the other sponsoring organisations within SgIS?

No, SgIS scholars are obliged to serve their internship with their sponsoring organisations.

Will I have an opportunity to indicate my preference for deployment upon graduation?

Yes, SgIS scholars are encouraged to discuss their career aspirations and preferences with their sponsoring organisation before graduation, so that these can be factored into the eventual deployment.

Will I be given opportunities to work overseas?

Sponsoring organisations may consider overseas work opportunities for SgIS scholars, subject to their human resource needs. SgIS scholars are encouraged to discuss their career aspirations and preferences with their sponsoring organisation before graduation, so that these can be factored into the eventual deployment.

If I study Law, will I be allowed to practise Law at my sponsoring organisation?

While SgIS scholars studying Law may be able to put their expertise in legal matters to good use, the opportunity of getting called to the bar will depend on the human resource needs of their sponsoring organisation.
