Systems on Silicon Manufacturing Company (SSMC) is an 8 inch wafer fabrication facility founded in 1998. It is a joint venture of NXP Semiconductors N.V. (NXP), the world’s leading semiconductor supplier in the communications and automotive markets; and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world’s number one pure play foundry.

Operational since 2000, SSMC has grown to be the preferred source of wafer fabrication solutions for the mobile communication market with a clear vision to connect mobile devices with the real world. Additionally, SSMC is fast becoming the preferred supplier to major automotive OEMs and vehicle manufacturers in the automotive industry where reliability and trust are two key requisites.

SSMC offers flexible and cost effective semiconductor fabrication solutions through the utilization of leading CMOS, Embedded Flash, Analog and High Performance Mixed Signal, RF, BCD and Sensor processes technologies, in the 0.25 to 0.11 micron technology.

The company has recently established an R&D centre to foster further enhancement of local capability in technology process development to support their evolutionary expansion of their process technology portfolio.

Starting with the internships and on into their careers, scholars will be given ample opportunities to develop their skills in metric-driven manufacturing, technology process development towards zero defects quality through challenging assignments available both locally and abroad.

Potential Career Path
The SSMC scholar will start in the technical path and advance their careers into two parallel and equivalent career paths in the technical or managerial ladder.

SSMC’s internal job opportunity program also allows scholars to swap paths mid-way to available positions as they develop the scholars' potentials and uncover their true aspirations.

Additionally, scholars can expect to advance their academic standing via the part-time SEED co-sponsorship program up to PhD level.
